How to Reach VPCOE Baramati

By Road: Baramati is well connected by Road to Pune. The distance is 100 kms from Pune. State Transport non-stop buses are available from Swargate Bus stand, Pune to Baramati, it is a journey of about 2.30 hrs from Pune. The buses leave every half an hour from Pune (Swargate Depot) for Baramati (from 6.30 am to 9.00 pm) the fare for the above route is around Rs 110/-.

From Daund it is 40 kms and Buses are available from Round Circle Daund.

By Train: You can also enjoy the journey to Baramati by train. The train starts from Pune railway station and reaches Baramati via Daund. It takes 3 Hours from Pune. TIME 2015 is seventh conference in the series that was started in 2005.

Technology and Innovations in Math Education (TIME), is a modest effort to create a platform where math teachers, math educators, technology providers and technology users in math education, could come together and discuss the various aspects of math education at school level. This also gives math teachers to discuss and exchange with each other their ideas and innovations.

Main Themes

  • Role of technology in teaching of mathematics.
  • Innovative practices in teaching mathematics.

We hope that TIME 2015, like in the years 2005, 2007, 2011 and TIME 2013, will serve a dual role as:

  • A forum in which mathematics educators and teachers will come together to discuss and to probe major issues associated with the integration of technology in mathematics teaching and learning.
  • A place where perspectives, personal experiences, and innovative teaching practices can be shared.

 Format of the Event

  • Invited one hour talks on the issue of technology in mathematics education and innovative practices in math education by experts.
  • Short 20-30 minute paper presentations by school/college teachers/educators on their existing innovative practices in teaching and efforts in integrating technology in teaching of mathematics.
  • Poster presentations on innovations in teaching, book exhibition and software demonstrations with hands-on workshops.
  • Hands on workshops on the role and use of Hardware like calculators and Computers, Tablet PCs, and software like Dynamic Geometry and others in mathematics education.
  • Workshops on recreational mathematics, puzzles, math games are also planned.

Conduct a Workshop/Demo

You could also choose to conduct a workshop in the format that is prescribed.

What do I do for conducting a workshop?

  • You can propose a workshop on a topic that helps the teaching/learning process of Mathematics. You can also choose to demonstrate some useful physical manipulatives/aids that assist in the process of teaching and learning.
To conduct a workshop or a demo, download the submission form and send it to us by post or email. The paper should be focused on one of the themes as given in the table below.

Themes Description
Use of technology in the mathematics classroom Presentations in this strand may include the use of Dynamic Geometry Software, Spreadsheets, Graphics Calculators Computer Algebra Systems, mobile apps, etc for teaching and learning mathematics at various levels of school and college mathematics.
Use of innovative teaching aids Presentations in this strand may include any innovation which has a positive impact on teaching and learning mathematics at any level, be it primary, upper primary (middle school), secondary, senior secondary or college level.
Mathematics Modelling and Applications in School Mathematics Presentations in this strand may focus on how modelling and applications of mathematics can be included in the school curriculum to help student appreciate the relevance of mathematics to various subject disciplines and also to solve problems in real life.
Mathematics Laboratory Activities This strand will focus on specific activities that can be conducted in a mathematics laboratory which either highlights a mathematical concept or some important aspects of a topic of school mathematics.
Mathematics Curriculum and Assessment This strand will focus on presentations which emphasize the relevance of various topics in the curriculum and on how assessment of learning in these topics may be done through innovative means.
