About the Speaker:
Professor CR Rao is a Wilks and Mahalanobis medalist; former president of IMS, ISI and Biometric Society; member/fellow of National Academies of Science of the United States, United Kingdom, India and Lithuania; honorary fellow of ISI, Royal Statistical Society (UK), Biometric Society, and Institute of Combinatorics and Applications, King's College, Cambridge; and elected fellow of IMS, ASA, AAAS and American Academy of Arts and Science.
Professor Rao was awarded the National Medal of Science, the highest award in the USA for lifetime achievement in fields of scientific research, in June 2002. His theoretical work helped lay the foundation of modern statistics.
Professor Rao is presently Eberly Professor Emeritus at the Pennsylvania State University.
