Title:Strongly Real Classes in finite Unitary groups

Abstract:As oppose to GL_n(F_q) where all real conjugacy classes are strongly real, it is not quite so for U_n(F_q). Gow and Vinroot looked at this from representation theory point of view. In this talk we will classify real and strongly real classes in the finite unitary group U_n(F_q). This is work in progress jointly with Zack Gates and Ryan Vinroot.
