**Title:** Cancellation Theorems in Group Theory

**Speaker:** A. R. Shastry, IIT Bombay

**Abstract:** Let CG be a class of groups. A group A in CG is called
cancellative if whenever G and H are in CG and G x A and H x A
are isomorphic then so are G and H. We shall discuss a number
of classes of groups and some cancellative groups therein.
