Title: Algebraic Space-Time Codes

Speaker: B. Sundar Rajan, IISc Bangalore

Abstract: Space-Time codes are coding schemes for wireless communication systems (cell phones, for example) with multiple transmit antennas. The role of finite fields in the case of classical error control coding theory, is replaced by certain algebras (division algebras and Clifford algebras) in the case of space-time codes. This talk will present how various parameters of importance in space-time codes are dealt with using division algebras and Clifford algebras, along with construction of optimal codes. Recent results concerning low complexity space-time codes will be discussed along with several open problems.
