Title:Face rings of simplicial complexes IV

Abstract: We will prove that the face ring of a shellable simplicial complex is Cohen-Macaulay. An algorithm to construct homogeneous systems of parameters in face rings will be described. WE will provide illustrations of the theory by discussing face rings of triangulations of spheres, Moebius band and the real projective plane.
