**Title:** A Brief Introduction to Class Field Theory - I

**Speaker:** Ravi Raghunathan, IIT Bombay

**Abstract:** I will try to give a brief introductory talk introducing Class Field Theory accessible to first (and later) year graduate students. The only
prerequisites will be a first course in Galois theory (M.Sc. Algebra I). A knowledge of the definition of *p*-adic numbers will be useful but not essential.

If there is sufficient interest, I may continue with more lectures on related topics.
