Title:The distribution of modular forms

Speaker:Rizwanur Khan

Abstract: Modular forms are very special functions which have a place in many branches of mathematics. In an effort to understand what they look like, it is natural to study their L-p norms. There has been much progress recently in understanding the L-2 norm, for which even a 2010 Fields Medal was awarded. I will describe some new results on the L-4 norm. This joint work with V. Blomer and M. Young makes use of L-functions, which are generalizations of the Riemann zeta function.
