Title: Surgery Presentations of Coloured Knots and of their Covering Links

Speaker: Daniel Moskovich, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research

Abstract: In joint work with Andrew Kricker, we considered knots equipped with a representation of the fundamental group of their complements onto a fixed dihedral group D2n. To each such knot there corresponds a closed 3-manifold, the dihedral branched covering space, with the branching set over the knot forming a link in it. I will explain how to pass from the initial data of a D2n-coloured knot to a surgery presentation of the corresponding branched covering space and covering link. I will roughly discuss how these ideas might be useful in low-dimensional topology.
