Title: Genus number of algebraic groups.
Speaker: Prof. Maneesh Thakur, ISI Delhi
Abstract:For a reductive group over an algebraically closed field (and compact Lie groups, their Lie algebras), the number of conjugacy classes of centralizers is finite. This number is defined to be the genus number of the group.
We will mention some results which help in computing this number, when we restrict ourselves to centralizers of semi simple elements and connected centralizers.
