Title: Some aspects of the Kobayashi and Caratheodory metrics on pseudoconvex domains in C^n.

Speaker: Dr. Prachi Mahajan, Mathematics Department, IIT Bombay

Abstract:This talk considers the biholomorphic invariant introduced by B. Fridman on three classes of domains: strongly pseudoconvex domains in C^n, weakly pseudoconvex domains of finite type in C^2, and convex finite type domains in C^n. We study the boundary behaviour of Fridman's invariant using the scaling method. As applications of our results, we provide an alternate proof of the Wong-Rosay theorem, a characterization of analytic polyhedra with noncompact automorphism group, and a description, in terms of Euclidean parameters, of the Kobayashi balls on pseudoconvex domains in C^n .
