Title:Irreducibility of generalized Hermite-Laguerre Polynomials

Abstract: Schur's irreducibility result of 1929 has been generalized by many authors using p-adic Newton Polygon methods of Coleman and Filaseta. In this talk, I will give a survey of some earlier results and state a number of results on the irreducibility of family of generalised Hermite-Laguerre polynomials. The study of the irreducibility of such polynomials are of significant importance for the inverse Galois problem.
