Title: Number of rational points on varieties over finite fields and applications

Speaker: Mrinmoy Datta, IIT Bombay

Abstract: This series of talks is directed towards various results concerning maximum possible number of rational points on (not necessarily irreducible) varieties defined over a finite field and its application to computing higher weights of Reed-Muller codes. In this talk I would state the Tsfasman Boguslavsky conjecture and discuss some recent developments.
