Title: Basics of linear algebraic groups

Abstract: We begin the seminar with a review of chapter 1 of Springer's book, Linear Algebraic Groups. The seminar will be accessible to anyone with knowledge of group theory. The parts of algebraic geometry that are required for studying algebraic groups will be reviewed.
