Title: Schur-Weyl Duality and Diagram Algebras - III

Speaker: Geetha Thangavelu, IMSc Chennai

Abstract: The classical Schur-Weyl duality states that the centraliser of GL(V) in End(V^{\otimes n}) is the group algebra of S_n, the symmetric group. To study the analogous question for the orthogonal groups R. Brauer defined an algebra, which later came to being called Brauer Algebra. An interesting generalisation of this algebra is the class of diagram algebras. In these lectures we will study basic aspects of these diagram algebras and their connections with (generalised) Schur-Weyl duality.
