Title: Some Isomorphic Vector Spaces and their Applications to Probability Distributions

Speaker: Professor K. Balasubramanian, ISI, New Delhi

Abstract: In this talk, we will discuss three isomorphic vector spaces which lead to certain easy proofs of binomial identities. Distributions arising out of some stopping rules in drawing balls of two colors from an urn with and without replacement will be addressed. Certain identities involving cdfs of order statistics are generalized to those coming from arbitrary multivariate distributions. Also, some generalized binomial and multinomial distributions can easily analyzed using our approach.
