Industrial Workshops

 

 

I.  Organization of Workshops:

1.     Took Active part in organizing a Workshop on Industrial Mathematics held at Baroda during 6-9 July 1993.

2.     Served as Course Co-ordinator of a 4-day workshop on INDUSTRY-ORIENTED STATISTICAL TECHNIQUES AND SOFTWARE PACKAGES held at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay during 1-4 December 1994.

3.     Conducted a One-day Workshop on Design of Experiments at Associated Cement Companies Ltd., Research Consultancy Directorate, Thane on 7 November 1997.

4.     Organized a 5-day Quality Improvement Program (QIP) Workshop On Mathematical Software In Teaching And Research held at IIT Bombay during July 21-25, 1998.

5.     Organized a Workshop on Reliability Theory and Survival Analysis during 25-27 November 1998 at Department of Mathematics, IIT Bombay.

6.     Served as Course Co-ordinator of a 3-day workshop on Mathematical / Statistical Software Packages For Data Analysis, Modelling And Simulation held at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay during 22- 24 April 1999.

7.     A two-day in-house CEP workshop on Industrial Statistics  was conducted at the premises of Sterlite Copper company during 22-23 July 2000. About  23 employees of the company participated in the workshop. The topics covered include Sampling and Statistical Quality Control techniques. Basics of statistics along with a large number of case studies in the afore-mentioned areas were discussed during two days.

8.     Served as one of the resource persons for a workshop on "Design of Experiments" conducted for a group of scientists from Onida Research Center in April 2004.

9.     Served as one of the resource persons for a SAS Workshop held at Department of Statistics, University of Pune during October 1-2, 2004.

10.     Conducted a two-day in-house CEP workshop on "Statistical Process Control- Basic Awareness Programme" for Crompton Greaves during December   21-22, 2004.

11.     Conducted one-day workshop on Analytics for Marketing Intelligence for a group of employees of Gillette Management Inc. on 14th May 2005 at       Middlesex, London.

12.     Served as one of the resourse persons to take part in the Third Mathematics in Industry Study Group meeting held from 23 January to 27 January       2006 at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

13.     CEP course done with Prof. P.P. Date (Mechanical Engineering) for Ordnance Factory, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, Ambernath. Gave five two and a half hour talks, spread over May and June 2010, on Sampling Plans.

14.     CEP In-house course for Edelweiss Securities Limited, Mumbai Conducted a two day workshop on 3rd and 10th July 2010 from 9:30 am till 6:00 pm. The workshop topic was Time Serie Modelling.

15.     Organized a Workshop on Reliability Theory & Survival Analysis during 25-27 November, 2010. The number of participants who attended this workshop was 55 and they essentially comprised of faculty members and research scholars from institutions/universities such as ISI (Kolkata, Delhi), IIT (Bombay, Kanpur, Guwahati), Delhi, Pune, Panjab, CUSAT (Cochin University of Science & Technology), Central University of Hyderabad etc. NBHM provided financial support for this workshop.

           

II. Participation in Industry-Related Workshops:

1.     Delivered ONE lecture on Basic Statistical Theory in the Workshop entitled DOING STATISTICS WITH QUALITATIVE DATA held at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay during December 1-2, 1995.

2.     Delivered ONE lecture in a Two-day seminar on RELIABILITY IN ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER HARDWARE at Institution of Engineers, Mumbai during March 14-15, 1997.

3.     Delivered TWO lectures in a CEP course on DESIGN FOR RELIABILITY held at IIT Bombay during September 9-11, 1997.

4.     Delivered ONE lecture in an In-house course on DESIGN FOR RELIABILITY held at Mahindra & Mahindra  Ltd. during 1st week of October 1997.

5.     A two-day in-house CEP workshop on Basic Reliability Theory was conducted at the premises of Sataym Computers, Hydrabad during 18-19 October, 2002. About 12 employees of the company participated in the workshop. The topics covered included basic reliability theory techniques along with a large number of case studies in this area were discussed during two days.
