Abstract: We will discuss proof of Mordell's theorem on rational points on
elliptic curves using height function & basic group theory.

The talk on Friday by Dibyendu/Chayan will be on what is called  ``Borel-Siebenthal" theory,
which determines all maximal subgroups of maximal rank of a reductive group.
